Tecolutla
It harbors 139 species of birds in a system of wetlands. It maintains important populations of pink spatula, white heron, white ibis, American stork and egret golden foot.
Wetlands of Alvarado
346 species of birds have been registered. It maintains a system of wetlands and forest. Populations of five species protected have been registered, as the wandering hawk.
La Mancha
Is in the plain of the Gulf of Mexico, to the north of the City of Cardel. Is a complex landscape with small extensions of forest, coastal dunes and aquatic vegetation. 252 species of birds have been registered. Species in danger live there as “the chorlo chiflador” and a population of endemic subspecies live there too.
Center of Veracruz
In this area 18 types of vegetation are found and 432 species of birds have been registered. The 34% of the registered species are protected, and there are populations of endemic species of Mexico, like the hummingbird.
Los Tuxtla
At present the Tuxtlas are a reserve of the biosphere. There are forests, forest mesófilo, wetlands and lagoons . 405 species of birds are known. There are populations of five subspecies and two endemic species in Mexico, like “The Fandanguero” and the “Perdiz Tuxtleña”.
Huayacocotla
Has two types of vegetation (low forest and forest of Encino pine). Even when not all the species here have been studied, there is a list of 48 different species, but there are populations of three endemic species in Mexico: like the “Matraca Barrada”, The “Chara enana”, and the atlapetes.
Uxpanapa
Its characteristic vegetation is forest. 159 species of birds have been registered. Some endemic species of Mexico have populations there, like the chivirín of Nava.
“Laguna del Castillo”
Located In Xalapa city, consists of a small low body of waters surrounded by forest, aquatic vegetation and coffee plantations. 166 species of birds have been registered.
