Description:

It´s 27 Km. long and 16 Km. wide, this is one of the richest places about flora and fauna, as well as of medicinal plants, which has permitted that the zone to be a space famous for its natural faith healers. The Lagoon there have several islands, among which the most famous are the Monkeys Island and the Herons. Another interesting place to visit is the cave of “El Tegal”. Good places to enjoy and do a lot of swimming are “Playa Hermosa” and “Playa Azul”.

Location:

It is located in the south zone of the State. Its around 275 kms. southeast from Xalapa by road.

Climate:

Warm to cool the temperature varies from the 20 to 28 ºC on the average, registering the lowest temperature from November to January of 20 ºC, and the highest from 30 to 35 ºC in April and May.


Activities:

Aquatic sports can be practiced, like swimming, fishing sportsg and the trips by boat on the lagoon permit to appreciate in all their splendor the fauna and flora of the region of the Tuxtlas. The waterfall of Eyipantla is a beautiful waterfall located in the Rio Grande of Catemaco, whose leap forms a curtain of forty meters of wide and fifty meters of height. Close to Eyipantla waterfall is catemaco an de Ecological Center of Nanciyaga.
