The Croos of Alvarado Festivity

This is without doubt the mos t important festivity in Alvarado, it is not enough to said thath people that lives out of the town come back for this festivity, even when they live in other cities, or states or even abroad. The manufacturing of the altars for this festival is just exquisite, the Cross of Alvarado festivity is something you will enjoy for its cultural richness.

The crosses of May consist of some domes of two meters of diameter with diverse arabesques accent, it´s covered with many sorts of material that make them look simply gorgeous. They are sustained for 4 pillar that are decorated as well in a magnificent way. Under the canopy an altar for he Holy one is placed.
These altars are placed each Sunday of May in some of the different neighborhoods of the city. But the mos solemn day of his tradition is the last Sunday of May, then seven monuments are placed around the main plaza called “October 15th”, that day the bishop of he church comes to bless each one of he crosses.
